Description
Missione water-based gilding size is ideal for indoor gilding with imitation gold leaf, silver, copper, and more. This versatile adhesive, made from acetate-vinyl copolymers in aqueous dispersion, is suitable for bonding sheet metals. Its compatibility with medium-porosity materials makes it recommended for decorating various indoor surfaces, including wood, plaster, stucco, and paper.
- The gilding size dries in just 15 minutes, so you can only apply the gold leaf after this time. There’s no need to use gilder’s clay before applying this size.
- Before applying the gold size, coat the gesso with shellac. This shellac layer acts as a barrier, isolating the gesso from the size.
- Once the shellac has dried—an event that takes only a few minutes—you can apply a generous coat of the gilding size. Please note that size gilding cannot be burnished.
