Description

Original Mixtion Lefranc is an oily adhesive used exclusively in the Oil Gilding Technique. There are two types of Mixtion: the 3-hour and 12-hour Mixtion. The numbers refer to the approximate drying times, but these should only be considered as general guidelines since factors like the thickness of the Mixtion coating and varying temperatures can affect drying time.

For successful gold plating, it is essential to have a non-absorbent surface and to apply the Mixtion thinly and ensure it is well dried. Mixtion is suitable for both interior and exterior applications using the oil technique.

For modern outdoor gilding, use Kölner Instacoll, a water-based size suitable for gilding both indoors and outdoors. The Instacoll Gilding System consists of two components: Component 1 is the Base, and Component 2 is the Activator. Instacoll serves as a gilding size (adhesive) for all types of genuine leaf. It should be applied using a fine synthetic brush.
